Susana Pilar Delahante Matienz besökte Skövde april-maj 2016 och inledde sin vistelse med att leda en workshop i affischkonst 25-27 april tillsammans med Skaraborgs Konstgrafiska Verkstad. Workshopen utgick från ett av hennes verk och cirkulerade sedan som affischer i det offentliga rummet.
Susana Pilar Delahante Matienz praktik är av undersökande karaktär där hon inte sällan försätter sig själv i olika situationer vari hon utforskar system av kategorisering och kontroll genom performance, video och fotografi. Andra återkommande teman är kopplade till ämnen som genus, etnicitet och ritual. Konstnären har medverkat i konstbiennaler i såväl Havanna som Venedig.

“I have strong interest in body, gender, race and social issues. As well as trans disciplinary projects and processes of creation. My several preoccupations engaged mostly to social concerns which I generally present through Art and non-artistic disciplines; trying to give them symbolic solutions or personal responses managing art and extra disciplines tools for these purposes.
I suffered some familiar situations that stimulated my interest for the women situation all over world as well as the different ways of discrimination towards us. Then after this, the whole preoccupations became only one objective: to work based on physical violence against Cuban women and the poor information that exist towards this phenomenon. Had been difficult to get this information and it is limited to few people; I got to get some access but without use the real images at my photos, so I had to look for formal methods to give solutions to the works: for example, to construct photo scenes on the basis of my memories. Just from this obstacle that ended afterwards, came out a formal and conceptual device in other works.”
